Building a Wardrobe From Scratch

Creating a wardrobe that feels effortlessly stylish doesn’t mean constantly buying new clothes. In fact, you probably already have the foundation—it's just about refining it. The key? Focus on silhouette, shape, and color. If something in your closet doesn’t quite resonate, swap it out one piece at a time until you find what truly works for you. Once you do, you can either stick to iterations of the same pieces or expand thoughtfully for different occasions.

Shopping + Styling Tips:

  • Shop for occasions - When you have an occasion, that can be a great time to expand your wardrobe because you’ll often attend similar situations time and time again. If you have an occasion coming up you want a new piece for, keep in mind to buy something that can be worn many ways for many occasions

  • Switch up your look with accessories - Accessories can be inexpensive (think thrifted finds) and are a great way to experiment with style without committing to an entirely new wardrobe.

  • Learn what flatters you - Pay attention to what looks and feels good on you. Your wardrobe should reflect your ideal self and lifestyle.

  • One vs. Many - Based on your lifestyle, seasonal climate, and budget, opt to buy one perfect version of each category (*see below*) or keep buying different iterations of the same thing once you know what color/shape/silhouette suits you best

  • Versatility - Choose pieces that work in multiple settings and can be dressed up or down

  • Adapt as you evolve - Your style is going to evolve with age, life changes, climate, and personal growth. Use style as a tool to express yourself on your journey or call in your desires.

  • The 333 Method - A great way to start building your wardrobe is to start with 3 pieces from each category below (i.e. 3 tops, 3 bottoms, 3 shoes, 3 accessories - outwear, jewelry, other). Pro Tip: this also a great way to pack for a trip.
